St. Thomas - Transcription performance

So in this video the piano player (don't know who he is) is playing a transcription of the Michel Camilo recording of St. Thomas. Beside being in complete awe of the work this guy put in, and the quality level that he plays, I'm wondering why he did it. Well, I guess I know why *he* did it, but I'm wondering why playing a transcription should be in a concert. Anyone have an opinion?

OK, so this isn't vibes related, but it's so nice to see people having fun with music :-).

I usually hate movies about music -- everthing's so serious. If they're about classical music, the main character has to have some debilitating emotional condition that he's trying to exorcise through his music. If they're about jazz or rock, the main character has to be a drug addict. Nobody has fun!

I think Tony posted something from this mallet robot previously, but here you can see it that it can be some pretty senseless technology. If anybody thinks this has anything to do with Monk or 'Trane, please tell me what drug you are on... !

Sarabande (with Van) by Franklao

J.S. Bach Violin Partita No 1. in B Minor BWV 1002: Movement V Sarabande

Filmed outside the UD music dept. buildings. The audio quality is good but low; headphones will be necessary to listen sufficiently. The parenthetical title exists to credit the sonic and visual mixture resulting from the peculiar behavior of a chance motorist.
