Practice with a focus on scalar runs over Jobim's "Triste"

Had a little time between students while teaching online today so I picked a song and focused on a specific task. The task was incorporating scalar lines/runs with a variety of stickings including alternate strokes as well as combination sticking. Also, starting and ending the runs in different places of the measure. The tune is Jobim’s “Triste”. Again, it’s practice and a work in progress.

Four for Joel

You know the drill. This is the tune Four.

You write in the chords, study my voicings.

Are they rootless?
What parts of the chords are there.

Then play it.

The second chorus is a simple solo outling the harmony.

"I'll Remember April"

"I'll Remember April" - a little shedding in the basement studio after a full day of teaching online. The past two days of teaching have been great. Everyone called in at the designated time and we were off and running. Especially amazing since they were calling from all over the world (Hong Kong, Columbia, Portugal, Paris,...) Wonderful seeing all of the students and seeing how they are doing with everything that's been happening. We covered a lot of material and I think the rest of the semester will be very productive.
