I’m going to be posting two lessons a week for a little bit, so I hope you like piano-isms! This one’s actually a Part II to my original one on Oscar Peterson. It delves into a few more idiosyncrasies characteristic to his playing.

This is my fourth "How to Play Vibes Like" lesson. And I should be doing 8 more this coming month, so if anyone has any suggested pianists to cover, let me know. So far, I plan on having George Shearing, Benny Green, Count Basie, Monk, and a second part to my Oscar Peterson lesson.

I'm hoping everything I talked about in this lesson made sense. It can be tricky stuff, so please ask questions if you don't understand something. And listen to his music, specifically "Passion Dance" and "Blues on the Corner" to hear these concepts in action.

Second video dedicated to the master of vibes and marimba Dave Samuels:
here we will analyse one of his most used technique. take your time to go over those rhythmical superimposition slowly with the metronome, then increase the speed and apply the idea over a repeated sequence of note you like.

'Whisper Magic' is a solo vibraphone piece that was composed a few years back and premiered at a duo concert with pianist Sergio Salvatore at New York's Carnegie Hall. Now I got the opportunity to work on a video for it and hope you enjoy it!

Using "Like someone in love" (Eb) to study solo-vibe playing.
