This is a shortened version of David F's beautiful arrangement (I left out his solo in the middle). My goal was to have it sing with expression and still stay in time. I wanted a faster tempo, but this was what I could manage for now. It's been a fabulous lesson in pedaling/dampening and making good use of all 4 sticks. I studied David's Youtube video quite a bit in the process of memorizing it phrase by phrase.
Here you have it: one of the most challenging licks for vibraphone taken directly from the master.
it's also a great technical exercise based on the double lateral stroke.

I tried some recordings using my malletkat and my vibe with audacity.
Stay healthy!

a gradual approach
Here are some exercises and info I gave a student on Solar.
WANDERING SCALES - I think it's a good exercise to be able to move from scale to scale from wherever you are. Here's one chorus of that.
SOLO TO TRANSCRIBE - Transcribe it!
This camera rocks. For real-- if you're moving into a basic cam upgrade like I am it's a great option. I ordered a dummy battery for it because it can't be used while charging. Flip up screen, clean HDMI out for streaming etc. etc.
Again- audio is a Samson C02 condenser into Zoom H4n and messed with in FL Studio.
This is truly BSing-- not always playing actual.. music.
Take it easy folks!
Been upgrading my livestreaming stuff. Need to figure out eventually if Hypersmooth (GoPro thing) helps or hurts for instrument videos. This was 2.7K at 120 fps.
Audio is just a C02 Pencil Condenser into Zoom H4. Then compressed, reverbed, and EQ'd the mallet thwack out a bit.
Waiting on an ATEM Mini so I can stream better- but for now just messing around and maybe starting to play again.
