On Friday I was expecting the delivery of my M44. But it did not happen. But to save the day Tony had shipped my mallets so I had a chance to check out grips. That's what I did much of Friday evening and Saturday.

I had already seen most of the videos on VW about grips and tried all that were mentioned.
What I discovered is that the Burton Grip is the easiest/most comfortable for me.

But I've observed one problem I'm having.

When I do the exercise of using the index finger and pinky to open and close the mallets for large and small intervals the mallets keep getting shorter and shorter to some point. They creep into my palm.
Oh my God I have mallet creep. Is it terminal?

Q1. Has anybody else experienced this?
Q2: What causes it?
Q3. How do I stop it?

Todd

just keep at it. i think your hands will loosen up and then it will go away. but it will take a little time (well, more than a little, but it will go away with hard work)

practicing playing a F and G and then E and C (double stops) each time fixing the sticks.

that's in any key 4th and 5th and then 3rd and root. get it?

yep happens to me too. I do wrap my mallets with tennis tape. I just feels more comfortable and when the sweat breaks I won't lose my sticks...haha

Also I think a lot of Burton Grippers tend to push the mallets back out by hitting them into their body... I do that... but the major thing is relax the grip.
