A couple years ago I had some minor issues with the thumb on my right hand, but it went away. Now my right little finger hurts like crazy and it pops and catches when I close my hand, especially first thing in the morning. I played congas a while back but I stopped playing months before my little finger started giving me fits. It doesn't bother me a lot when I play vibes, but damn it's killing me when I try to play congas. I wonder if it's too much time on a computer keyboard?
Anybody here ever dealt with trigger finger?, Surgery? Any random comments/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I had trigger finger on my right ring finger and had surgery last November to correct it. The surgery was fairly minor and I was playing vibes again in a few weeks. I received a couple of steroid shots in the tendon before having surgery to try and resolve it. The shots helped for a couple of weeks, but then the trigger finger was back. My trigger finger impacted my vibes playing. It was painful and my finger would lock up while playing. Things are much better now after the surgery.
thank you! What do you think about playing congas?

After surgery? You should be able to do whatever you did before trigger finger. I brought my mallets to my pre-surgery meeting with my surgeon to show him how the trigger finger was impacting me. Be sure to talk with your surgeon about what you do and your concerns.
