Hi Tony,

This isn't quite directly vibes, but is there any chance we can get a lesson on the equipment/software you use to produce videos? You've really upgraded your capabilities since the "quick and dirty" days, so I'm looking for how you handle the multiple cameras, good sound, and syncing up the sound with the video. No need for details like "click this menu", but stuff like what kind of cameras, what records the sound, what software package mixes everything together, are there any lighting problems that have to be taken care of, etc.

Thanks,
Tom P.

2 cams
lots of mics
logic
final cut
sh*t load of lights
hours and hours and hours of time.
to set up my space and buy all the equipment: thousands and thousands of dollars. i can't believe i spent as much as i did. i ran myself into the ground doing this project.

not something i like thinking or talking about!!!

Well, you just make it look too easy. Friends of mine that I've talked to about it tell me that it's an enormous time sink. The way you churn things out I was thinking you discovered some trick, but apparently not, that sounds like the state-of-the art setup as I understand it.

I guess I should take this opportunity to say how much I appreciate the videos (well, and everything else here). The videos deliver the most information the quickest -- not only do they give the lesson that's the main purpose, but they communicate all sorts of ancillary information. For example, articulation is very hard to tell from just the audio, but much easier to see and hear in the videos. It really helps to both hear _and_ see great musicians play.

Thanks for working hard at this.

i appreciate it. yeah, don't think i'm saving any time. i do 16 - 20 hours 7 days a week. fitting in the site, gigs, teaching and practicing. it's brutal. i'm hoping i make money to get help in here. i don't want to edit the video. i'm glad my partner is a great programmer, i don't even remember php or mysql any more, which is a good thing!

all in all i'm glad i did. most of the people on this site have become such great friends of mine. that alone is worth all the effort.
