Hi, Can someone tell me about the Adams SV1 Soloist Vibraphone, 3.1 octaves? is the frame easy to disassemble and re-assemble for gigs? Thanks, J Maffia
I was very heavily looking at the next step up from this when I bought my vibe, disassembly involves loosening a crossbar, leaving you with the keybed, two "legs" and the cross bar. In a medium sized car that shouldn't be much of a problem just plan to get padding of some sort. The real problem with Adams is that after buying one you should expect a few quick fixes, a LOT of people complain about keys arriving out of tune but Adams has a free replacement plan, the other problem is the motor, though very neat in design, is typically slipped from its housing which means either your motor doesn't spin right or you have to disassemble the end bar.

i think the frame is not easy to dissassemble.
we have a discussion about this many times on the site about intruments and how portable they are.
the m-55 is totally portable for cars. gary burton says it's a problem to fly with. the m-48 is suited for airplanes.
for moving around via car, nothing compares IMHO with the m-55.
for me the thing is, does the frame and legs fold up?
on the other hand, if you're not moving a lot right now, then don't worry about the portability so much. esp if you can get it for a good price.
are you a pro? gigging a lot?
