Seven Years by Tjaco Oostdijk

Hey Guys,

I guess I'm in a posting mode today. This a composition I did about the even years a spent at the conervatory. In my opinion too long to be in one school. I guess you can hear that in this composition, at least I hope. Ok, the horns didn't practice the theme really good. It's kind of a hard tune. Me on drums, not vibes...

Same question here, any need for talk about composing...?

And yeah, that's me talking dutch, introducing the band...

Bernie' Tune (arrangement) By Tjaco Oostdijk

Hey Guys,

This is a version of Bernie's Tune I did on my bachelor exam. I arranged the whole thing. I was wondering if there might be a need for some thought on arranging tunes. Either for a small band or a larger band with horns.

Let me know if there is some interest on this subject.

Let me know what you think of this 'crazy' arrangement...

Don't Get Around Much Anymore by Tjaco Oostdijk

And yet another one from the same gig. I actually like my comping on this one, but don't really dig my solo. Although at this point I had just practiced two versions of the milt solo(see check this out) in twelve keys. I guess that was just too much in my system and there are some parts that come out, but I think I was still too fresh in my system...
Some things really have to settle....

Bobby Hutcherson w/ Leroy Downs - Fresh news!

This is a great week! After getting fresh news of Emil Richards, we are honored by some recent and cool "postcard" of Bobby Hutcherson! And they could hardly be fresher, as it was taken during the Monterey Jazz Festival which took place this week end!

I got the chance to come across this great picture through Facebook this time. And beside the Master is not less than journalist Leroy Downs, "The Jazz Cat". If you look at the newbies, LeRoy even joined the site!
