Gary talks about his travels!
Some time ago we started a post about life and death of vibists. I just realised today that we missed talking about a loss: Belgian vibist Fats Sadi passed last February 20 at this age of 81 without us mentioning it here. I thought this omission should be repaired.
So, here are a few links with info in his memory:
- Short Bio and Discopgraphie from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fats_Sadi
- More substantial version with photos: http://www.jazzinbelgium.com/musician/sadi
- Article from Timesonline: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article5982762.ece
Yes, tell us Gustavo! Please! :o)
P.S.: If you need it, here is the link to the general rules of a "Who is"...

My thoughts on technique. In response to Vibraman's post.
Just kind of off the top of my head.

Day 1
6:40am. I stumble off the American Airlines flight from Miami after a mostly sleepless flight. The first thing I notice is that all the airport workers are wearing medical masks and rubber gloves. Guess they’re taking the flu seriously down here. In the baggage area I am concerned because there are no carts in sight. I have five pieces of luggage (three vibes cases, two personal luggage).
[Reminder to self: call Mark, my trusty case maker in Massachusetts, and order a replacement for the large case. This one won’t last much longer.]
This video made me smile, really big, and I wanted to post it here. Then I saw that Tifoo posted it. Even better!

Here is someone who obviously adores Milt Jackson, as do a lot of people on this site. However, even though this person does not obviously "sound" like Milt, they have managed to play an exact solo by Milt with his nuances. Enjoy!
I am a huge fan of Gary and this video I found! Very Interesting I think is from the pre rock/jazz/ fusion stuff
also you can see some dampening techniques and great solo.. Larry Coryell -guitar
Hey everyone, just got back from San Francisco last week, and I'm happy to say that my group with saxophonist Ken Fowser earned the Generations fellowship for 2009. There's a cool article about it, you can go here: http://www.creativearts.sfsu.edu/node/998
originally i wanted to mail this video question to tony personal but it never made it to his mail address i don´t know why.so i thought who cares ... there are enough good players on the site who can help me out with this.
maybe some of you are dealing with the same problem sometimes.i´m happy for every comment!
