Ok guys, The first class will be April 5th, 7pm EST.
Here is what you do to be part of the class.
If you're new, this the entrance into the class.
Time has to be good and you can be as simple as you want.
Here are some voicings to the tune Misty.
1. Memorize the chords
2. Write in the changes with the alterations. Don't look at my voicings for the chord name, they are what you have memorized 97% of the time. Any problems ask.
3. Memorize the voicings here.
4. Play with Rhythm
5. Put them in another key. At least one.
I think my student JD will do a follow up here as well!
[ESP] Tenemos unos voicings para la canción Misty.
Interesting, Bill Evans is pretty cool.
Yesterday, Barry asked me if I thought the software I use for production could clear the frame noise out of the wonderful performance that David had posted several years ago. The short answer is, yes, it can and it can do it without much detrimental effect upon the music.
caravan is a good tune to work on. Just like Green Dolphin Street in a way it's half modal and then have changes. And the chages are great to work on, dominant chords! 3 of them, 2 are regular 9 chords and then a diminished going to Ab and then down a half step to an altered chord. So it's actually 4 dominant chords.
What do you think, - Tony
We would do the same deal. You get in the class by playing the melody and then the chords. Do it with Ireal pro with no piano turned on.
Ive always loved this album with Deborah Brown and the Sandviken Big Band so I learned the vocal solo by ear yesterday and recorded it. Its so cool to play with a big band..:) great way to pass a horrible day of rain and wind
