Chega de Saudade (No More Blues) by Gary Burton (early vid)

Hello everyone.
I guess the words "Chega de saudade" and Gary Burton associated together remind you all a special feeling...
Well how to describe it ?
to me : historical

But unseen...only my imagination to put the Burton image on this amazing solo.

I know Tony said the end of the year make some of us feel down,
but it is Christmas time !
Let the hope be with us, and the partage and...voilà !

Paying Your Dues

I have the most amazing phone calls with Joe Locke. We've become great friends. In our last call we got into paying dues a little bit. I'll let Joe talk himself if he wants, but he has paid his dues. I can GUARANTEE you that.

I can't imagine guys like Friedman, Piper and Saindon have not paid them as well. And Big time.

My story doesn't lead to an incredible career, but I have paid my dues. I'm not sure for what, but they're all paid up I'm pretty sure!!! :-)

Here's one of my dues stories: (maybe some of the pros here can follow up with their own)

Summertime by Joe Locke & Goeffrey Keezer (check out Joe's solo!)

This is pretty cool! Check out Joe's solo. I was just looking around and this floored me. The thing I also dig is their re-interpretation of the tune. I hear a lot of reinterpretations these days and a lot are so far removed from the original that I personally get a little turned off. It's obvious that Keeser knows the path back to Summertime (IMHO).

If I Were a Bell by David Friedman

David sent me this to post
Wow, this is a LESSON. Check this out. There's a ton here listen to this one over and over. This is cool.
I personally LOVE to play in situations where there is no bass or drums. This would be a dream CD for me.
The playing is phenomenal. The CD will be out soon, I can't wait.

Listen to how it swings. Wow!

More Basic Stuff??

I know some of these topics we've been talking about are a little over some of your heads. Which is fine, I'd like to help get you further up the ladder, so you can understand more of that.

With that in mind, What questions do you have that might help me when making up lessons for this site. Let's stick on the more basic side of vibe playing in this topic.

What do you think?
