Wondering about your preferences for mallets... specifically mallets that aren't your 'primary set.'
Hi There-
I've brought back a little piece from my trip in Argentina.
I met there a wonderful marimba player called Mauricio Bernal.
He has made an interesting work on the traditional music from Venezuela and Paraguay on the marimba.
the clarinette player is an old friend, argentinian too. He's name is Matias Marcipar.
the piece is called "petites notes"
I was working on some concepts Tony showed me in a lesson, specificly using the half whole scale in the V chord of a II V I. Recorded a drum track and put the vibes over it, just working on soloing over solar.
Further ideas about playing over a minor IV to I resolution in jazz.

Hi Everyone,
Good Vibes enters its THIRD YEAR with the May 6th (and 9th) program.
These are all favorites from the past year, although as I will say in the show itself, it is always a challenge to cull the playlist down to ONLY 20 tunes. Tony's "Blue Skies" with vocalist Libby McDowell gets a replay, as does Joe Locke's "The English Patient," David Friedman's "Los Them," Behn's "The Dog Days," and 16 more.
It's been a great, fun two years. Thank you to all of you for support.

Good Vibes airs on the first Sunday of the month, 8-10 pm eastern time
Pick the right melody, it doesn't have to be hard!
Vic Firth just finished editing this clip. The playing was taped at Berklee in one of the percussion department studios and the interview was taped at the VF office. The tunes that I'm playing in the clip are Black Orpheus and Somewhere Over the Rainbow on vibes and Ain't Misbehavin' and St. Thomas on marimba.
Ari is so creative!
Check out this etude. Study the chords and write in the names with the alterations. Then play the etude. It will get you moving around and weaving through the changes. Work up the speed a little bit, and transposing in one other key will go along way.
The etude PDF is attached.
