One way I practice lines is to practice lines, and I record them. Then I just play along with them and sometimes record that.

Playing along keeps me involved and listening. I can really hear any time problems or anything else when I'm playing along. I really like practicing like this.

With our Lines Festival happening, I thought I'd post some practice tapes of mine and you guys can play along with them. I think since it's a Lines Festival I think you should try and comp with only single lines.

Hey all,

I was going through some gigs and forgot about this performance. I was doing my normal Tuesday gig at Smalls, and when we opened it up for a jam session, Johnny O'Neal came in. Johnny is a great pianist and vocalist, and has performed with so many greats, including a favorite of many people on this site, Milt Jackson! Anyway, Johnny had requested that we play duo. Naturally, I was terrified, haha! It turned out to be alot of fun, and here is a tune that we ended up playing. Hope you enjoy it.

Marie has been working on our online books and they are getting organized. You'll see above V-Books, that's where they are. The thing about the books part of the site is that it stays the same. The content doesn't flow like the rest of the site. So things should be in the same place all the time.

This 'taking care of business' analogy really works for me. You have to really break lines down and study them. Figure out how to get them to represent progressions.
