Any Vibe Resolutions?

Yo guys,

Another great year with you all. I've learned and grown a lot from hanging out with all of you. I think we have an incredible 'think tank' here and I'm hoping and assuming that it's really helping the instrument as well as us as players. I know it does a ton for me!

I wonder if you guys have any vibe related resolutions for the new year?

Joe Hunt

Hey guys, Joe was mentioned a little while back. He was the drummer in the TV clip with Gary when they were playing with Stan Getz. Here's a photo of Joe that was taken on a gig with bassist Mark Carlsen and myself. The gig is at a nice Japanese restaurant on the outskirts of Boston. We have another night coming up tomorrow.

Joe is a special drummer. He really knows the history of jazz and all of the players. He can burn at a very soft dynamic level. He blows me away every time that we play.

Tribute - Solo piece for beginners by Ted Wolff

This little tune is titled Tribute. It is arranged here for 4 mallet solo vibes. Beginning students should find this piece an excellent example of how to accompany a melody on the vibes. It’s not technically difficult, but it is a good sounding piece, suitable for performance. The audio example includes some improvisation too. It’s important to note that you don’t have to obtain super technique to get a nice full sound.
