From an early 60's local program in LA, Paul Horn and his quintet performing "Green Dolphin Street." Another rare opportunity to see a video clip of the great Larry Bunker playing vibes. Incidentally, tomorrow will be the 81st birthday of Paul Horn.
This is a little lesson I just came up with on approaching chord melodies. I starting with a simple melody and devloped three variations. The lesson is a PDF and I've included a little MP3 of me demonstrating the examples so you can get an idea of what they might sound like. My intention was to give some ideas about how to put some of the voicings demonstrated in other lesson here on this site into practice, in addition to some other options. I hope some of you find it helpful.

We must be at about 600 lessons now, I think? Well definitely over 500.
Maybe we should tie in with our partners in the west? I think we could easily pull off an East Coast vibe summit. I could get us a place to play no sweat and get the band. We chip in for food and have a really nice hang.
What do you east coast people think??? I'm just going to need help organizing and setting it up.

soooo, tony and bill eavans are kind of similar in a way..
i watched just a video from tony talking about putting yourself in a box, and this interview of bill evans goes along with that idea. there's just so much to say about it, hopefully some people will have their own ideas on it.I think bill evans is one of the most interesting people to hear speak. it's pretty simple ideas, but said very well and clearly.
i'm looking into some camps/workshops to do over the summer and wondering if anyone has some ideas on where to look. i'm for sure doing the one in delaware. thanks for any help
