Welcome to the new advanced group on Vibesworkshop.com.

We have two members so far. This is for advanced players only. Players who really really are putting time in on the instrument. In order to be in the group you have to do the assignments and submit them and do them perfectly. This is a group that will require hard work.

Anyone in this group that performs at this level will get certain perks.

1. A skype lesson (once in a while) with me
2. Letters of recommendation (from me for now, hopefully from others).

Harmony

This Horace Sliver tune is a great tune for modal study. It moves through some contrasting and somewhat awkward keys. When improvising it is important to make smooth connections as you move from key to key.

I've included the arrangement of the head. You can substitute the flute with pretty much any other instrument.

This is a difficult one.

Again I left the chords out. Get the real book out and write in the changes so you in some small way begin to think about the harmony. Look at the notes and enter the chords.

Can you see the different keys this goes through? Thanks to Bach and the Well Tempered system of tuning, or I think this tune would sound terrible in Midieval tuning! :-).

Play it slowly and work it up.

常常我們在Comping時，會限制在一個和弦只有一種voicing(和聲配置)
但是如果能在一個和弦上找到不同的voicing，並且是有和聲進行（Harmonic motion）的，會讓comping聽起來更豐富。
可以看看PDF檔中，Behn的例子是用藍調(Blues)來說明這個“互換兩個和聲配置”（Alternating two voicing）
熟悉了之後，可以開啟節拍器，按照速度演奏，再自己加上一些節奏感，這會是很好的練習。

在這個網站中，很重要的一個練習是“開離密集的和弦”（open-closed voicing）。
Tony說他練這個練習，練了好幾年。
如果你想要真的成為一個很厲害的鐵琴家，你要專心練一個東西，
練很多很多年，鑽研的很深，你就會成功。
像是Tony他自己就是練這個open-closed練習。至於他的另外一個學生Behn就是練Gary Burton的chega de saudade solo練了兩年，從裡面學到非常非常多東西。

所以Tony在這邊要說的，就是你要選一個項目，
值得你鑽研好幾，你會從中學到很多很多。
