Crusaders!

We are all crusaders for this instrument! I've said it many times! I feel good, I've been crusading a lot this summer and I feel good about it!

I had a jazz reporter in Slago, Ireland come up to me and say: "I think there's a resurgence in the vibraphone, do you feel that?" Meaning me.

I said yes!!! There's a lot more happening around this instrument then there was a few years ago. I think we are all to thank for that. I think we are carrying this instrument forward. Just saying!!!

Great workshop in Spain by Dimitris Angelakis

Hey guys,
The workshop in Spain is finished and I am so lucky and honored to participate, teach and play in such great event. The hospitality, the energy (teachers and students) and the food is amazing. It was an excellent time to spent there and I learned a lot also. These guys are doing a really great job. One of the best. I would love to see some of the students to the vibesworkshop. That would be great. This is Isreal with his wife Silvia. Thank you guys for everything and hopefully see you again next year!

Limerick 2013 - Thanks Tony!

Huge thanks to Tony, and everyone who makes this site what it is, for a great five day workshop in Limerick!

My training is in classical percussion, and like many players from this background, the quickest way to make me stop playing was to put a chord chart in front of me! Having wanted to learn to improvise for a long time, and recently become a subscriber on Vibesworkshop, I finally decided to take it seriously and signed up for the week. This being my first workshop, and a beginner to improvising, I have to admit feeling quite a few nerves walking into the first class.

Just a few minutes

The past 12 months have been a bit tough for me (nothing dramatic though). I did my best to keep up with the vibes, but it’s been hard.

Since June 21st I’ve had no chance to take back the mallets, my vibes remaining covered in my living room, holding papers and folded clothes. I was always blinded by my ‘duties’.

Until last Saturday afternoon, when I suddenly realised, in the middle of all the things I still had to do… that I was alone at home. I took off the cover. Found back the multicolored Miceli 46R, and finally allowed myself some real time for me.
