Hello all – although this might be an embarrassing question to ask, BUT I'm working on étude #8 (vibraphone technique dampening and pedaling by David Friedman)

In regards to étude 8 do the accidentals only apply to the notes that they directly precede? As this is a contemporary piece and if you look at section A for instance you have a C sharp and then it's marked C sharp later in that phrase. Another example: the phrase before C there's a D sharp followed up an octave to a D – maybe D natural? I'm enjoying learning this étude as is, but before I post I don't want to give the wrong impression.

Thoughts?

Hi JJ,

You might not believe it but I don't have a copy of the Etude you've mentioned. If you could scan it and post it I can help you.

Best,
David

Okay, no problem Mr. Friedman. I will try to scan the music in a day or two and I'll go with my instincts as I've almost interpreted this étude fully. However, if you prefer the traditional accidental rule I will have two versions :-)

Good evening Mr. Friedman:

Hopefully I scanned copies correctly and you can view them accurately. Thank you for your interpretation.. And taking the time. – Jim

PS tried attaching page 1, but I received an error message – not sure why.
