I exchanged several friendly emails with Billy and he lived about 100 miles from me in Indianapolis. That organ group was recorded really hot and they probably were loud, but that was the order of the day for organ groups. There are a few live videos on YouTube with a Latin group and just enter "Billy Wooten live." I like his group a lot, but I happen to like soul-jazz and for anyone who would like to hear Billy on a studio recording, check out Grant Green's Visions album from the early seventies. I think Billy also played vibes for Chess Records in Chicago and worked with Soulful Strings among others.
