Hey guys, some things fell through on an internship so I'm looking for someplace to go for a few days between now and the 28th. I've got a little bit of money for amtrak/greyhound and I'm looking for something vibes related for 3-7 days. I'm hoping to be on the site quite a bit in the mean time.

Thanks

im going to be putting a good amount of time into the site over the entire range of dates

ps: getting to see balter's factory would be awesome, but if i need to find some sort of hotel it will shorten the amount of time i can be out there by quite a bit

Jimmie, since you're in Ohio you may want to consider an overnight trip to Chicago as part of your vibe-adventure. There is Century Mallet, and I don't know if the Musser factory is currently dismantled as they prepare to move but a phone call to them would allow you to take a tour there. From where I live in Cincinnati, it is 5 hours on the interstate.

to hit, musser, balter, and (what's his name) the mallet repair guy in chicago. someone will know.

to shoot video of them and prepare something for vibes workshop!!!! you can get a kodak GREAT HD small cam for cheap (i'll split it with you, if you do the report) shoot video and take pictures. and then make a report for us!!!! interview the cats, etc.

this could be REALLY great!!!

we could try and find a chicago vibe player to drive you around while you're there researching these guys!

we could try at least.

that all sounds really cool, i didn't realize there were that many mallet-related businesses in chicago. i would definitely be willing to go around and do as much video taking/interviewing as they would allow me. who all do i need to start talking to?

Well, I did some more research and this is actually not going to be nearly as costly as I thought. Megabus round-trip is going to be $70 and I have a friend staying in a hostel there thats only $36 a night. The metro system seems like it would be pretty easy to navigate but if we knew someone here that would like to check out the factors and be willing to drive that would be great. The three factories are all spread out on the west side of Chicago and are each about 15 miles away from the next, I'd be able to help with gas money.

Trust me on this - you definitely do not want to use public transportation to get around in the suburbs of Chicago. It's not like New York's subway system where you'd be within walking distance of your destination. What would be a 15-minute drive between factories will be several hours otherwise, plus you're at the mercy of the routing schedule.

If it were as simple as that I would, without one of the vehicles one of my parents wouldn't be able to go to work. I've used the google bus to test the routes and it is going to take about an hour and a half each trip
