Hoping to reach Vince H from thevibe.net forum. I'm interested in experimenting with building my own liquid-filled damper pad and would like to talk about the process.

Thanks!
Neil

Yes Neils, the Vince H of thevibe.net is the same as the one of vibesworkshop.
BTW I think I saw him online yesterday... Did you manage to reach him?

It looks like he's online now. Vince, are you there? Can we chat?

Hi Neil,
I don't think you can do Private messages here. Send me one back at the old vibenet and include your e-mail. I'll contact you and we can arrange the time...right now, I have to get back to work.

But happy to walk you through it.

Guys,
If you click on one's name you get to his profile. There you can click on "contact" and send the person a private message. Just get sure it reaches the recipient.
Good luck!

Hi Marie-Noëlle,

I am unable to click on the user's name, neither from the forum thread, nor from the list on the left side that lists who is online. Can you describe exactly where you click on the name?

Thanks!
Neil

Hi Marie-Noelle,
The function you described does not work in my browser, either (google chrome).

Hi

I tried joining the vibe.net about 3 years ago. Still no approval for my application (maybe being a mass murderer doesn't help! joke) nor did any of my follow-up emails get answered. Is the site defunct?

I wonder if anyone could help me with a small query? i have a Majestic Artist vibe which is lovely but recently I noticed the lower Bb - sometimes not always- returns a metallic buzz upon being struck. I cannot see anything obviously wrong, I take great care of the bars when transporting them for gigs and cannot see any cracks. The bar is still perfectly in tune and as far as I can tell the bar posts either side have not been pushed out of place.

Many thanks

Paul

As I recall, Majestic Artist vibes were the company that took over Ross vibes. And I think the Jupiter company is somehow involved. Anyway, I purchased a set when they were still Ross vibes. I had the same problem. At first I thought it was because the end of the vibes was too close to a closet door mirror. Then I finally moved the vibes to a room which should have been acoustically great. It still did it. Like you, I could not see cracks or problems with bar posts. Then I recalled when I ordered my vibes, I ordered them tuned to 440., What are yours? They were retunred from 442 and it was a hatched job. Look under your bars and see if they have gouges or if they are "fine" tuned with even grinding marks. In short, you may have problem. Also check your , definately not too loose.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for the reply, I have sorted the problem by replacing the cord. I did have the bars tuned to A440 and I am always very careful with them!

It seems the cord I was using was the source of the noise. It's gone now. I do like this instrument although since having some leg trouble last year I find it a little heavy to gig about with. Nico is kindly making me a lighter instrument.

I am still puzzled by the Vibe.net issue though. I have been trying to join it for over three years now. Is this a record? Does anyone know what goes on there?

More than likely this is what is going on on the Vibe.net..... Nothing!!!

I say nothing because no one is posting anything anymore. There are many "views" but no posting. A great deal of the Vibenetters moved over to this site, Vibesworkshop, when it started. There was a keen interest in it. Certain issues were not being addressed on the Vibenet and posting pictures and videos was becoming a problem. That problem was due to the owner being very very busy gigging and making his way in the music field. There were no secondary people to handle any forum problems. Now, now no one seems to be taking time to even post - even on the holidays which I posted a general greeting to eek out some responses: None! I cannot even suggest why no one is posting but there seems to be a long funeral procession going on. (tongue in cheek). In short, the Vibenet seems to have died and not even the owner has bothered to show an interest or maybe he still doesn't have time. In any event, even if you join, nothing is going on unless you have one hell of a question or statement to make. :-(

Sorry Paul

Hi Vince,

Thanks, but I can't use the old vibenet forum- my user account has been "pending approval" for a several weeks now, and attempts to contact the moderator have gone unanswered.
