Tmack ,
I checked on my Century (and I am pretty sure it's same on an M55)
The total length of the musser top rod (the one that hooks on the damper bar) is about 21 3/4"
The bottom rod (that the top rod fits into) is 11 1/2"
When my damper is adjusted to my liking, the distance between where it fits to the pedal to the damper is around 28"
Are you referring to the lbs/inch compression rating of the spring between the frame and the damper bar? Pedal weight shouldn't matter at all and can't be affecting your hip, since the pedal is held up by its connection to the damper bar.
Can you bring the pedal lower to the floor so you don't have to rock back as far on your heel?
