Fun recording of a very young Gary Burton
Man, I was never a Roy Ayers fan. I mean I thought he played well when I heard him, but I just thought he went in a different direction that I wasn't to keen on.
Well vibist Steve Hobbs turned me on to many tracks, CDs and his opinion. honestly I expected to like the music but didn't expect to be moved like I was. Yes, it's ignorance, I know. But I've learned a bunch about him and really am digging what I'm listening to!
Please see the description in the video regarding the clip segments. Ed
Hi All,
Just as I was finished recording September's show, news came that we lost our eloquent, our fine Bobby Hutcherson. There's still so much of his work that I haven't even touched yet, albums I still need to get. I'll do a dedication for him in October with some favorites but meanwhile, hard to believe he's not among us in body any longer. But the spirit is still strong.
Hei you all! My name is Lucas Dorado, I'm a new subscribing member of "VibesWorkshop" and I would like to share a composition of mine with you. I wrote it for Solo-Vibraphone. Since I'm here on a website with a lot of great Vibesplayers, every feedback is very welcome!
Here the link to see the whole video if it doesn't work below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVUyt8M3B4c
Gary sent this to me and I'm posting on his behalf - Tony Miceli
Check out my friend Steve Khan's tribute to Bobby. Beautiful.
Hey Guys
Some sad news. Bobby Hutcherson dies last night.
He will be missed terribly by the jazz world and especially us her at vibesworkshop.
So any Bobby stories out there?
What's your favorite Bobby cd?
RIP Bobby!
Here's a "jam session"! version of Groovin' High with a long intro. I like the roughness and experimental quality of the take. We didn't discuss the transition from the intro to the head, or much else. (Maybe it sounds like that!)
