Inventing your own exercises

The last mini-lesson I posted on VW seemed to raise more questions than it solved... Ok that is cool, the idea is to explore many things and try to get better. We all need to do this, and it never stops as a player. It's a constant journey.

In the Coltrane lick I had been working on, I suggested a double sticking that some of you pointed out was actually a triple sticking. So I had to look into that, cause I wasn't even slowing it down enough to realize I was doing that, and upon further review, it is not something I would actually recommend doing.

Jamey Abersold and Malletkat

Here is another first for the malletkat .. was a bit of a techy thing but luckily it worked .

I use Cubase sx 3 to generate the the vibe sample thru the malletkat, so i imported a track of summertime from one the jamey abersold vol's i have .. and just hit record ...

not the greatest mix .. but wat i want to find out is how the sample would test up to a virtual combo .. not too bad .. more single lines at first and by the end i comped a bit to see wat that sound and felt like ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3cdUwQAWlg&feature=youtu.be

Concerto for Violin and Orchestra was written in 1987, marking Philip Glass's first work for orchestra. With the exception of a concerto for two timpanists, Glass has not written for solo percussion. Glass, being one of my favourite composers, I have selected this concerto to adapt for marimba and vibraphone.
