Vibe Diary Feb. 23

I've been actually having a lot of fun, playing with metronome and really thinking hard about rhythm and how certain rhythms should sound. Sometimes I'll play a phrase of a tune or something I just played over and over, just listening to it against the metronome on 2 and 4. It's really fascinating to me how certain rhythms lay against the 2 and the 4.

I'm thinking about doing the same things against other things such as a clave (just got a clave app for my iphone) and bossa rhythms etc.

Anyone else thinking along these lines?

Vid's bossa nova pattern by Dimitris Angelakis

Hey,
I think it's a great thing One great thing I learned from the Sassenheim workshop was a bossa pattern played by vid (a great vibraphone player from Slovenia). So, I practised it and I thought it's cool to post it on the site. I hope you enjoy it. Any of you latin guys feel that can be played in a better way please feel free to comment.

Thanks
Dimitris

Forum Topic: Question on Purchasing a Vibraphone!!

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here.. I'm a professional drummer wanting to be a complete musician, and would like to seriously get into studying the vibes. I don't know if I'll ever gig on the vibes every night, but I would like to get a Pro instrument. Is there a difference in Sound between the musser brands: M55, M48 or the M46? (I'm aware that M46 does not come with a motor)

If it all sounds the same, and feels similar to play, and the only difference is the cosmetics...than I would like to purchase the M46..

Good decision??

Thank you all!

Stella By Starlight (1984) - Ed Saindon & Greg Mooter

Don't laugh guys, this is an old clip. I was recently was going through some old VHS tapes and ran across this footage from 1984. With me on vibes is Greg (Iggy) Mooter on electric bass. We were playing some tunes and doing an interview back then for a local TV station. Actually, I think the facial hair and hair style is very funny. OK, you can laugh.
