Remember the V Chord!
Hey everyone,
A quick lesson on selective dampening. This is a subject around dampening that isn't talked about very much, but I think it has a lot of potential! Let me know what you think.
Ok, I was going to put the chords in, but I always get mad at myself when I do that. I'm making it easier for you guys and that's not how you get good!
So you put the chords in, put the extensions in and analyze the music and play it.
Can you talk about it? That means you have the harmony memorized.
Look for the hidden triads. I.E. -> a C triad over a Db and the chord is Eb13b9. Do you understand what just happened here? Can you explain it for others?
Do the work and pass it on.
Hey everyone,
Here's another Bud Powell lick from his tune, "Bouncin' with Bud." I like this one because it's simple! I think it's super important when playing bebop to still construct melodies to ground the music, and Bud does that great.
What's cool about this lesson is you never hear and bad note out of Andrei and he's playing the same triad over and over. Check him out on YouTube. He's a really great player. He plays classical and jazz. I'm especially blown away by his classical playing and he's also a great improviser.
Here is my solo vibes arrangement of Black Orpheus in c minor. More keys coming soon. Head/Solo/Head/Out
I tried to add some chords in my solo. I definitely need to practice that more.
Here is what I decided to call a tool box.
There is a solo, a chord study and a bass line for you to use as accompaniment.
Work hard on this there is a lot here!
I just love this stuff!
