Margie Hyams, 91, a vibraphonist who played with bandleaders Woody Herman and George Shearing as well as with her own jazz trio in the 1940s, died Thursday of renal failure at Arcadia Methodist Hospital, said her daughter Lisa Ericsson. Born Aug. 9, 1920, in New York, Hyams played the vibes with Herman's First Herd in 1944 and '45, then formed a trio and also appeared with Mary Lou Williams and Charlie Ventura until 1949, when she was invited to join Shearing, the blind piano virtuoso.
Here's a promo video I did for a band I play with in Amsterdam.

My guitarist friend Bernard and I are preparing our little annual gig... of next Thursday: Arrghhh!!! We're so nervous and really needed more practice! So today we did a long session and recorded to keep something "suitable" and generate a good motivation for the live versions of next week!
This one has no vibes: I sometimes enjoy concentrate only on the voice, my first instrument!

I only do the melody on vibes and complete with voice. Enjoy.
I Knew it! We Are Cool!
my girlfriend thinks i´m totally crazy but i´m a little bit proud :)
it took some time and research to put the malletkat up like this above the vibes. in the end it´s an keyboard stand expansion for 19€. i think it´s the best setup to play both instrument like i want to do in some situations. but dealing all the footswitches and playing both instrument at the same time needs alot of practice...

Hey,
What I'm posting here, is an improvisation I've been using for the last months simply to warm myself up, before actually doing lessons, or studying things. I'm a bit done with it, so as a closure, so to say, I'll post one.
It all began with the tune 'I'm still here' from Tom Waits in my head. (O yeah, I'm a huge Waits fan, so it's not the last time you'll hear me talking of him.) For those who don't know this song, here is a link.
