Some fun last friday afternoon with my new friend in Piteå.
I'm playing with him on a few numbers on a concert this week so we met to discuss what I would do (some "classical" style percussion improvisation in between songs, etc) and then spent an hour messing around with material that ISN'T in the concert... soo.... here it is!!
I'm a total loser and can't remember what the name of this song is, my friend just taught me the changes and we went for it! someone can tell me if they know!
Thanks for listening!

OK. UPON DIM'S REQUEST, THE FILE ON THIS POST IS NOW TAKE 2, WITH MORE DYNAMICS. TAKE 1 IS STILL THERE BELOW AS ATTACHMENT IF YOU WANT TO COMPARE. NOW MY SHOULDERS HURT: ARE YOU HAPPY DIM? :o) SO "TAKE 2"! ;-)
TEXT RELATED TO TAKE 1 - POSTED YESTERDAY:
This dampening etude is dedicated to David. It's a simple melody from an old classic. As simple as its original by young Judy Garland. But when there's David Friedman behind, supporting, encouraging, inspiring, it can become the most fun dampening exercice you'll ever get to work on! Thank you David! :o)

Greetings vibesworkshoppers! I have an unusually tight little grouping of vibraphone-heavy gigs I'm leading in NYC in the next two weeks, just wanted to share them with you in case you're in town and interested.
May 24th: I'll be leading my own trio at The Bar Next Door, by NYU and Washington Square Park. (http://lalanternacaffe.com/page/1rjs6/Bar_Next_Door.html)
Here's a few ideas about the Major 6th chords found in a diminished scale. I like some of the sounds/ideas you can get when you work with these. If you folks like this and I can do more lessons on this idea... let me know.

Randy sent me this. It's a screen capture from his computer, while he was browsing. It's a little border line, but I think it's ok to post. AND IT'S PRETTY FUNNY.
I figure boobs are okay to show right? Once in a while.
It's funny because as a vibe player and a guy, what do you look at first on this page. Sexy Madona? Or a sexy new Musser? So Randy was checking out naked pictures of Madona while being targeted by Sam Ash trying to sell him a new vibraphone. Get it?? NOW that's funny.... at least to me.
After 4 monthes without any spare time to practice new exercises, I'm resuming etudes learning, big fun ! For this one I had to rip off a bad scratch at 0'46" during conversion to MP3, but no big deal.
Hey guys,
The Ralph Peterson Sextet/Fo'tet is playing the CD Release for "The Duality Perspective", at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, in NY this Monday at 7:30pm and I am in need of a vibraphone. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend me a vibraphone for this gig. I can arrange for pick up and drop off of the instrument, comp tickets, and possible compensation.
Also if anyone could email or post where you can rent vibraphones from in NY. I heard there are a couple of places but I forget the name.
ok
marie and tony encouraged me to post something from my trip through afghanistan although i played drums and no vibes. the band is called johnny & the hotrods and we cover some rockabilly, johnny cash, elvis etc.
this song is called "like a loaded gun" and is one of a very few original songs composed by our singer.
