Hi there
Fairly new on here, hoping to get busy soon... moving to vibes from (but not excluding) woodwinds, so serious learning curve likely in some areas...
I was quite lucky in acquiring a small gigging vibe- vintage, not everyone's first choice. Sounds great, though. I'm in England, and bought the vibes from a brilliant US vendor ... and they made it here, despite our 'Royal' Mail (USPS were fine).
I hope I did OK. Feedback is welcome so I know on what to work.
greetings
Stefan
here´s a more serious try on the malletkat. i didn´t spent to much time to play hip solos but i tried to use some sounds i liked.
...just thinking out loud and letting ya'll know what I'm up to at the moment.
I've been sight reading every day for the last month or so. I just print 6 or 8 pages of a solo or something I find online, turn on a metronome and go.
To make a very long story shorter, the past month of my life has been CRAZY trying to find a new place to live, and practicing has unfortunately fallen on the wayside in the process (but I've been working on Rhythm Changes when I can...I'll record and post my final sometime this weekend!).
Messing around with the flute sound. So I gave myself 30 minutes to do something with it. You know the tune.
Let's wrap up rhythm changes this week. Yeah??? I've worked so hard on them the last couple months.
Maybe we just move into the world of bebop and see where that takes us, via etudes and whatever else.
I just have to tell you guys. I have so much fun with a metronome. I know there are guys that don't think they are cool, but I love working with a metronome. It helps me so much to learn about time!
I just put it on 2 and 4 and play. I can feel my time waver a bit and I can see it's tendencies. I learn so much. Man, try learning a bebop head and then putting the metronome on 2 and 4. See where the accents are, the off beat phrases, etc. Try it out and let me know what you think!
I dig it!
