Playing with Singers

We've talked about doing some lesson about working with singers. And they're coming, they're on my list.

I've spent the last month down here in St. Maarten working with a singer and a bass player. They're very close friends of mine whom I've known for a few years now.

Opus de Funk by Milt Jackson & Frank Wess (Happy Bday Mr Wess!)

Only 3 days after Milt's bdate, here we go with wonderful flute/sax master Frank Wess... who truly turned 90 today!!! Wow!!

And... what better pretext could we find to post Milt's Opus de Funk with Frank grooving on flute? Huh? ;-)

Happy Birthday Maestro Wess! Keep swinging! :o)

Lines Festival - Do You Know This Tune? by Behn Gillece

I listened to Tony's post and thought this was a fun idea. I thought the dominant #11 in the Take The A Train thing was a dead give away though! So I thought it may be really fun to try an obscure standard with less obvious chord motion. As personal punishment for doing this, I've decided to do this in Db in order to make it harder on myself, oh why god!
