I just got in contact with LA latin vibist Bob DeSena. He just joined the site: welcome Bob!!!
What first caught my attention was the pictures of his vibes. I thought: OMG!!! What the hell is this monster vibes??!! That's the most customed instrument I ever saw!! How can that guy play such a weird stuff? Why did he put those "Monster Truck" wheels on it?!! What are those mics above the k&k bar? Hey, but is he not cool and having fun?! I'll let him answer for me all those questions! (Bob?)
This is a warm up MJQ tune we played during our sound check for our first gig with Tony, The quality is not bad, its a mix direct from the desk, pity is the gig was a great gig but the Bass died on the recording for the whole set except for half of the first tune. Hope you enjoy it.

I've seen some of you guys around for a while now. Dimitri, Tarik, my great buddy John Daly, Barry. And there are others. You guys have become friends of mine and I'm blown away watching you guys get better on this instrument. In AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) people get a lot of strength by hearing of others journeys in getting sober. I think that's pretty powerful stuff.
I would love to hear some of you guys talk about your journey's with this instrument over the last several years and how you progressed. What did you do, how did overcome some of the obstacles in your way!!!
Hello everyone !
Let me answer to Marie-Noelle , with this video, who asked me recently why i used 3 mallets now in my playing.
The reason is medical. I suffered a very severe tendonitis of the right shoulder, those last months, tendonitis due to an hyper-solicitation over my years of percussion.
I now reach my 56 and play since i have 12 ...
I was forced to stop vibes playing during 2 months this spring and had a vision of what eternity could be !
Here's some more of bags' groove with me on vibes. i'm trying to feel more comfortable with space. thanks for listening!
I hope this works! This is me playing some great musicians around my age. I'm playing piano here. I realize the tempo slows at the end, but o well, it was just a jam session. Any comments would be much appreciated, I'll try to get something with me on vibes up. thanks!
