Hey Everybody!
I just want to let you all know that the great Steve Allee is now a member. If you are not familiar with him, check out his website, and his bio. He has had an amazing career and is a local legend here in Indianapolis -another jazz luminary to join the ranks!
Welcome to the site Mr. Allee, and please let us know when/if you will be playing vibes publicly any time soon - or posting any videos hopefully.
I was working in a lesson with Nathaniel and we were working on here's that rainy day. I've been messing around with stuff we worked on and thought I'd pass it along. We were working on these sort of clusters and voicings. Here's a PDF with some of the stuff we were talking about.
This might actually be a GREAT TOTM (tune of the month).
Just banged it out. Let me know if anything is weird.
When I come to Europe in July, I have the opportunity to bring over a MalletKat. If anyone at the Ireland workshop or anyone in Europe is interested in a MalletKat talk to me. You'll wind up saving about a 1000 bucks.
If no one at the workshop is interested but someone in Europe is interested we can talk.
Now also for subscribers if you're interested in a MalletKat I can get them for subscribers for a VERY good price. You'd have to be a subscriber that's been on the site for a few months. But I have worked on something with Mario to save subscribers some serious bucks.
I just started the dampening and pedal book, and while practicing dampening the bars, first playing the note with the right hand, and then dampening with the left hand, I get a stramge bounce/buzz. Anyone else have any issues like this when starting out. Should I get heavier mallets? I'm using the standard mallets that came with my Musser M55, the old Gary Burton model.
thanks,
Dan
.
Hey guys.
I was trying to set up a vibe hang for this weekend. However our ISP is moving our server and the site will be down for a bit over the weekend. maybe actually friday to sunday!
I know Marie mentioned the vibe hang in her newsletter. I think it's best that I postpone it. I'm going to try for July 3rd. But that's not official yet. Let's see who can make it.
I'm looking for a used (in good condition) m-55 to buy.
Maybe you guys could help me out on a price to be looking at, i'm not really sure what they go for. I think a new one is around $4,800? Maybe I could get sponsored by musser and get a free one?... haha. Thanks for any help!
Hopefully someone's got one out there to sell!

This is a rough mix from an album that I just recorded on a few weeks ago.
Jason Squinobal- Band Leader, Tenor Sax
Joe Doubleday- Vibraphone
Claudio Leone- Guitar
Will Slater- Bass
Angelo Spampinato- Drums
Let me know what you think! It's kind of difficult to come up with new ideas after a while, when you are just sitting on one chord for a long time.
