Ideas for Comping Pt. 1 - Double Stops with left hand by Tony Miceli
I spent today thinking about solo playing and accompanying yourself and it morphed into a 4 part lesson. I just went with it, so let me know what you think. Here's pt. 1.

Here's a very impromptu lesson on Woody N You. I haven't played the tune in a while, but I remember really studying it back in the day and I was thinking of some of cool things about the tune after hearing Tjaco bring the tune up.
Here's a little analysis of the tune. Remember work on this in pieces. I think if you listen to the whole thing it might seem a little overwhelming but work in pieces. Harmonically this is a very easy tune.
The concept of lazy voicings can help you find NEW voicings. When you play lazy voicings you move voicings to the next chords closest notes. This can even help you get away from the root which is a voicing suprisingly you can usually omit, ESPECIALLY with a bass player.
Hey guys here is part 3 where I discuss one Upper structure triad option you can use for a V7 chord moving to a Minor i chord.
If you are in the key of C- the triad over the G7 would be Ebmaj. so a maj triad built off of the b6 scale degree.
Try it out!

Chovenda na Roseira (Jobim)
This is one of my all time favorite tunes. It's sung by brazilian singer, Rosani Reis. It was played on an older Musser M55 and there's unfortunately pedal noise.
This is dedicated to Marie.
This was the video that I made for the vibe hang last week. Somehow I couldn't get it to convert properly in time for the hang. Tony reminded me to post it, so here it is.
Hopefully I'll get it right on the next hang.
This file is a little big, so wait for it to load a bit first.

I have an effects pedal that has a very basic looper on it, so I decided to get it out yesterday and see what happened. Insensatez is a tune I use a lot because it sounds cool as a fast samba or partito alto funk, but it sounds just as good as a slow ballad. This is the version I came up with Saturday morning, let me know what you think!
Joe Locke showed me a cool scale that Olivier Messiaen used to write with. I found out later that it's a MOLT (Modes of Limited Transposition), which is pretty interesting. A major scale transposes into 7 variations and a diminished scale 2 (if I understand this correctly).
