John Piper has some great exercises on this site!
Here is one and I think it links to the whole program.

This is a great method in my opinion!
Also download the vibe notes tony recorded and make random play lists.

This helps learn the scope and area of the instrument.

nathaniel,
yeah man ear are everything. you have to get them as good as they can get. there are also many ear training sites on the net. check them out.
sing solos, download the 'notes of the vibes' and practice them like toddc said.
sing intervals non stop. transcribe solos, this really is a great exercise in ear training.
Tony's got it.

Tony is correct. Your ears have to be as good as you can get them. Not perfect. Can't get'm perfect so every time you work on ET, you're improving your music. Also check out the "interval scales" I recently posted to approach ear training from an interval side. Look for ways that YOU can relate to and remember the sounds.
Transposing all melodies that you know is excellent et.
