Hi,I`m going to look at a 3.5 Deagan Imperial on Thurs.I know next to nothing about the instrument, and was wondering if there was anything in particular, that I should be aware of.I know this can`t be any newer than 1942,amd was wondering if the tuning wanders as the rosewood ages and presumably dries. Is $2k reasonable, assuming good appearance and no problems? Thanks for any help. Tom

My only question would probably be that it's 3.5 octaves and that half-octave going down to the lowest C isn't there. I've never played marimba, so I'd be curious how much marimba repertoire you'd be unable to play that requires the full four-octave range.
not an expert at all. but i

not an expert at all. but i would check for cracked bars.
also like john said consider the range. if the guy is smart you're paying a lot for it. if it's really cheap then buy it, you can always resell it later at a profit.
Is that the low A instrument?

Is that the low A instrument? The problem is, anything smaller than the low A instrument is going to be hard to resell... also you won't be able to play a lot of literature on it, if that is what you are planning on doing.
Drew,it`s F-C,so no low A.I`m

Not if it's in good condition. If you have an opportunity to check it out in person, I definitely would.
