Chega Etude

Here's my arrangement or etude on Chega. Of course inspired by Gary Burton's untouchable version! None the less I thought inspired by his version it might be fun for us to give it a shot.

Pedaling? If it troubles anyone I can think about it but I more less just fluttered the pedal on every beat except for the obvious places.

Ed Saindon - Swing on the Sunnyside tracks

Hi Everyone,

I mentioned in a previous post that there was a period when I was exploring and studying music from Dixieland and the Swing Era along with some of the swing and stride pianists. Well, as a follow up to that, we uploaded three tracks from my recording Swing on the Sunnyside which was recorded in 1995 and features songs from those great periods of jazz.

About the tracks:

Joyspring (rhythm track)

I know some of you have been working on Joyspring. Here is a bass and drums track of the original arrangement, all on brushes, with the intro and the coda. I've added a click manually : 1,2, 1-2-3 and the opening phrase starts immediately after three. I wish I had had a bit more time to do this. Without anyone playing the melody, it's pretty tough, the main danger being rushing the tempo. We've tried hard to hold back. Although I can hear every imperfection (it's time I got me a new pair of brushes)I think with the solo voice on top, they will not be too noticeable.
