Here's a nice, simple etude for Tune Up. This is a great etude for getting a start to playing over changes. It's simple, but there's a few challenges in it nonetheless. It will help greatly with playing over ii-V-I's. Enjoy!

Yesterday I went to see them play in my hometown.

With that saying, allmost everyone in the audience came because it was a concert from Jef Neve. When I entered the venue, I apparently sat next to Leo. Now you got to know Leo. Leo is the man behind Mechelen's Jazzzolder (Jazzattic) A small jazz club. My friends and I laugh about it, saying : "if you want to accomplish anything with Jazz in Mechelen, you'll have to pass Leo.He's Mechelens Jazz godfather."

My first post of this was unsuccessful... hopefully this time it's all good!

Stella by Starlight is one of those gems that never gets old, at least for me. The changes are so interesting to play over, even after playing the tunes on probably hundreds of gigs! Here is a slightly different take on it, as played by my West Coast quartet fairly recently... (I live in NYC now).

This short solo piece was written by Renick Ross and arranged for vibes by Dave Samuels. It's not especially difficult to play and really sounds good. A pdf of the arrangement is included.
