This is an article recently written for PAS' magazine Percussive Notes by Gustavo Agatiello. Gustavo did a great job transcribing and analyzing Joe's solo on the standard "It Could Happen To You". As always, Joe is playing brilliantly on this track.
The playing took place during a long weekend that Joe, Gustavo and I spent together at my house in December 2009. We had a great time picking each other's brains, sharing improvisational concepts as well doing some serious cooking. Joe makes a great chicken cutlet dish.
Welcome to the new advanced group on Vibesworkshop.com.
We have two members so far. This is for advanced players only. Players who really really are putting time in on the instrument. In order to be in the group you have to do the assignments and submit them and do them perfectly. This is a group that will require hard work.
Anyone in this group that performs at this level will get certain perks.
1. A skype lesson (once in a while) with me
2. Letters of recommendation (from me for now, hopefully from others).
3 versions of a hard tune to play solo.

Hello VWs,
A group I play with called American Bedouin released the album "Peasant Company" late last year. I am playing my buzz marimba from Chiapas on the solo. I mostly play percussion on the Cd but I am playing vibes on the track "Science Fiction" and buzz marimba on one other. This song is a 5 bar "Eastern Blues". We recorded one of my compositions called "Amor Feu, Eternite" on the CD as well. I think I posted a version of it somewhere on this ever expanding website.......
If your interested the album is available on iTunes, Amazon, and CdBaby
Here's a preview from a recording session I did recently that is still unreleased. We are still working on getting artwork and mastering done but I thought I would share this and see what VW thinks.
I posted a picture showing my rig for the session. I am using only the signal from the pickup through mostly analog effect pedals.
I wrote this composition for my wife (Layarne). It is supposed to be "floaty" and sweet but also rock out a bit ;)
Let me know what you think
Thanks
