Kirtan, American style with vibes or, at least, the way I have been doing it.

Last year, I contributed some vibes to one track on my friends' CD of devotional music. I thought I would share it with you as an example of the American version of the music from India that I wrote about in the other post. Ned said it would be okay to post a clip of the track here...

It is a chant to Amba, who is one of the manifestations of the divine feminine. Seems as though vibes really worked on it in terms of generating the mood of being in a maternal presence.

All the Notes of the Vibraphone

Simple ear training! Download this zip file, unzip it, add it itunes or burn it to a CD. Set it to random and then follow the notes. Pause them in the beginning. Figure each note out with as few tries as possible. DON'T GO FISHING! That's what I call it when someone just starts hitting random notes to figure out the pitch they just heard. Take your time.

If you play a wrong note, sing the wrong note and then sing the note on the cd. Check out the difference and then play the right note. Make sense?

Hey guys! Happy new year! This is a video of me jamming with the christos rafalides band (playing my vibes ofcorse hahahahah). This trio is amazing and its christos on vibes, petros klampanis on bass and bodek janke on drums-percussion. Also a very good greek drummer kostas anastasiadis joined the jamm leaving bodek playing the percussion part :).
