So What - Lyrics

I've a sing-a-long vibe show coming up at a rest home next week. In the firm belief that going on with life into old age takes both courageous endurance and a sense of humor, I wrote up the following lyrics to "So What". I'd welcome additional verses:

My aching back hurts like the dickens So .. What
It won’t give me a moment’s peace So .. What
It creaks and rattles on forever So .. What
Maybe it needs a little grease So .. What

The nurse here is a nasty creature So .. What
She’s mean and and doesn't give a damn So .. What

2011 Chord and Harmony Fest!

I mentioned about pausing the TOTM and do a huge chord and harmony study. 2011 Vibesworkshop Chord and Harmony Festival!

I'm digging that more and more. Here's the thing. If we all work together we could create a HUGE compilation of all this, study our butt's off, and grow like mo' fo's' musically.

I have a bunch of pros who will create some lessons for us and I think I'll pick a theme for each week and we can all talk about the theme.

I'll wrap up the blues this week and next week we'll start the Chord Fest!

Forum Topic: Joe Locke's "Verrazano Moon" and "Van Gogh By Numbers" sheet music

There have been many requests over the years to make these two songs available in sheet music format...
Sorry it took so long. But they are finally available here:

Verrazano Moon - 3-page PDF
Van Gogh By Numbers - 3-page PDF

You can download each tune for only $1.90. Enjoy!!

Cimbalmos

I recently got an even bigger cimbalom!
Not to fond of this performance, it was so shaky, but hope yous enjoy it anyway.

This tune is called Cimbalmos. It's a compilation of folk tunes from around Eastern Europe, originally performed by the cimbalom player in Besh O Drom.

TOTM - Blues - Parker Changes by Behn Gillece

Hey everyone,

Here's a lesson on Parker changes. I've made two attachments. One is a pdf for the lesson called "Ideas for Parker Blues", and the other is a Lionel Hampton solo on his original blues, "Gladys". Check out the Hamp solo; he does some really cool stuff in there!
Note: I did something different in Ex. 2&3 on the D7b9 in the audio, sorry about that!

Chord Melody Voicings on "Moonlight In Vermont"

I recently began teaching privately via Skype and Face Time. I've been asked in the past about teaching via Skype but have been reluctant since I'm not too tech savvy. But, I'm pleasantly surprised how easy it has been. I recently had a lesson with Ben Redman from Scotland. Ben has been working on playing a chord melody on "Moonlight in Vermont". We talked about various chord options when playing the chords along with the melody. I suggested some voicings using specific tensions as well as some reharmonization possibilities.
