Nico Farrugia jamming on a Funk Fusion playalong

Hi all !

Here it is, finally posting something after a few months of inactivity on vibesworkshop.... I have a good excuse ; I had no vibes to practice.
But since August I'm the lucky and extremely happy owner of a brand new GigVibe from Nico Vanderplas !!!
So here I am, starting to practice again... Here is a fun practice tape, jamming on a funk fusion playalong.

I'd love to hear your comments!

Cheers,

Nico

Forum Topic: VanderPlas Baileo - DIY wooden frame for Musser / Deagan bars!

Today on this sunny Sunday I'm gonna have our machines work on a new project. If it works out well, it might help a huge number of vibists.

The main reason for this new DIY frame is a cheap solution for those who aready own a vibe for gigging, or for thosethat own a crappy beaten up frame and need something fancy without having to invest heavily.

It is not as transportable as the gigVibe and/or M55, cause the main issue here is costs reduction. For those who need something more transportable, we're gonna offer something in the relative near future.

Forum Topic: Montuno and Latin Pattern ?

Hi everybody!

Somebody can explain how to do a montuno on vibes ? Or comping rythm and voicing in latin-jazz?
I find nothing about it and I don't know how to adapt piano montuno for vibes because we have only 4 fingers and we can't let resound a note more than an other one...
If anyone can help me about it ? ;)

TOTM - Blues - Comping Etude For the Girls of Oman by Tony Miceli

Here's a quick etude I wrote for Stefan and the girls of Oman. Stefan teaches the percussionists for the King of Oman. Cool gig, huh?

This will take a little work. Print out the pdf, put in the chords for the blues. Then analyze what I'm playing and put the alterations in.

Can you see:
Open voicings?
Closed voicings?
Passing Chords?

Can you hear the melody in the top voice (simple as it is).

Study the piece and talk about it here. I don't want to hand it to the girls of Oman, I want them to work for it. :-)

Can you:
Change the rhythms?
