Forum Topic: Workshop Sassenheim

Hi everybody who are going to come at Nico's in Sassenheim for the workshop.

Concerning my workshop I'm planning to do some work starting from classical music (JS Bach) and show some different approachs to practice this music on the vibraphone (transposition, chords, improvisation) than just only reading the part.

About this, and to be more efficient, would it be possible for you to check out a couple of pieces ?
I am thinking about :
- the "Courante" from the suite n°1 for cello in G,
- the "Sarabande" and/or the "Double" (just after) from the partita n°1 for violin in Bm,

Look to the Sky by Barryk

I was playing the piano, and thumbing through the Real Book today. I found "Look to the Sky" and since I had my recording stuff set up at the piano, I decided to create a backing track, with BIAB. I then put back my recording stuff back with my vibes and did an overdub.

I really dig the sound of unisons.

I messed up the tag at the end, but hope you enjoy it anyway.

Ederlezi rough mix by Timothy Van Cleave

I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada about six months ago. Since I've played a few gigs here and there, but not the frequency that I had been prior to moving. However, I just started working on a concept with another artist. He mentioned that he wanted to work on some tunes from Eastern Europe and some original compositions. For me the concept of playing vibes in a group with a folk repertoire was a little foreign. And then I remembered what Tony said. Try playing with a rock or different kind of group.
