Here is etude 5. This one has taken me a while to get together and I'm still working on bringing it speed but I think it still sounds good a little slow.
Hi All-
It's been awhile; lots of exciting things going on around here! I have some fairly exciting news of my own: I'll be appearing at the Melbourne Jazz Festival this May with my band, Nós Novo on the 1st @ Bennett's Lane, and on the 4th with Jo Lawry's quintet. We'd of course love to see any Melbourne/Aussie vibeworkshoppers in attendance... I mean, all are welcome of course, but it's kind of a schlepp for the rest of you!
I'm posting this because I think the rhythm section is so swinging and Larry is playing his ass off!
The vibes distort some on this, but I think for all the rest it's worth checking out
Last one. The K&K's sound ok here. I use marimba on the Mallet kat and then the vibes.
By Gerald Veasley
More Mallet Kat. Check out this piece. I use Glock, Marimba then K&K vibes.
Check out John Blakes solo on violin. Pretty smoking.
Here's a board mix from a recent live concert. Not a great mix, but maybe it's of interest because I use the Mallet kat in the beginning and then switch to the vibes. The vibes are the K&K's. I don't think they are EQ'd very well but whatever.
Also it's Mingus and it's all electric, Listen to the glock at the end of the tune, it's all Mallet Kat.
This is why the Mallet Kat is so amazing. I can play all the mallet instruments and use it in the music. Of course I can use any kind of sound.
I found this rarity. The legendary New York-based percussionist and studio musician Phil Kraus jamming on a Mallet Kat(!!)with Harry and Harvey Sheppard, Isn't Harry a member of the site? Apparently it was an 80th birthday party for Harry. All three of them trade solos on the electronic mallet instrument. Mr. Kraus is the one with the glasses, dark(still!!) hair and sort of a plaid shirt. This was filmed in Houston, TX, where Mr. Kraus has lived for several years since retiring from the biz.
I spent today thinking about solo playing and accompanying yourself and it morphed into a 4 part lesson. I just went with it, so let me know what you think. Here's pt. 1.
Hey guys not sure if this has been posted but its a really amazing video of Gary Burton and Chick Corea from 1980!
