Cool stuff!
this was recorded almost a year ago, well before i joined vibesworkshop. i'm just posting to join the party.
This was recorded shortly before i joined vibesworkshop. i should post another version to show how far i have progressed but, right now i just want to post anything just to get my feet wet. this is a pretty rough version. i forgot the changes twice, but i stumbled thru... anyway, enjoy.
I've been pretty curious as to why there are never any discussions about Stefon Harris on this site. Does no one dig him? In my opinion he is one of the heaviest vibe players alive (if not the heaviest). If you guys don't listen to him you really should start! Check out the stuff he is doing in his solos. Seems like he is taking it to the next level.
What do you guys think?
I was called for a gig at the last minute last night and barely made it in on time. The gig turned out to be the best gig I've done in a while. We made a crap-load in tips and the Manager liked us so much he just payed us extra and asked us to come back the next night. I had played at this place many times before but never with this group. It just seemed to mesh well this time. And people notice when good things are happening.
Check out Mitch's guitar solo. That guy can really play and he has amazing ears. On top of all that, he is an extremely nice guy.
Anyone coming to the APAP convention tonight? I know there are hundreds of groups performing.
This is what I call the grind. Trying to get gigs and things happening at these conventions is crazy. The thing about it is I sat at a table of musicians who have played this convention for years and all said they have never booked a gig through this. This is a HUGE convention. Someone said there's a 20-30 minute wait for the elevators... and I'm playing on the 4th floor.
Terry Gibbs Killin' it!!!!!
I met Miss Jones this morning (and all at once I lost my breath, and all at once was scared to death), and then I e-mailed the vibes-bass-dms track to my friend J.B. down in the South of France. JB put the piano on top. The ending is one that I heard Stephane Grappelli play many times.
Some cool early Piazzolla/Burton footage! Double click on the video there's more on Youtube
If you're coming to the workshop please do a few things.
1. Fill out the registration: http://www.vibesworkshop.com/node/2710/
If you're coming to the workhshop PLEASE fill out a registration form.
This is so we can get an accurate count of attendees.
2. Please pay in advance! This will really help us and you will save money. It's so important that we make it cheaper. It helps us to know whether we can buy drinks on the plane!
