he's great. i'm not a fan of scofield's sound. but that doesn't matter. i like the sound of this trio. i dig the electric bass and it takes a special bass player to be able to play jazz and fit in on an electric. but it sounds cool and reminds me of the power trios back in the 60s and 70s!
Thanks Tony, Feel the same way about your version. Great choice for TOTM and a fun tune to study and play on. Irving Berlin was very hip with this tune. Digging the lessons on this tune by you and Behn. Also, everyone should check out Chick's version on Now He Sings, Now He Sobs. Chick does some reharm with it. It's an excellent illustration of how to use four note groupings and pentatonics. It's listed on the recording as Now He Beats The Drum. I was listening to this recording last week and still can't get over how incredible it is. Timeless music by Chick, Roy and Miroslav. Ed
I came totally by luck across this greeaat version with sax player Rosario Giuliani (one of Joe Locke's great friends). Love the groove and spirit of the whole band!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y6OEzuz0_g
