WANDERING SCALES - I think it's a good exercise to be able to move from scale to scale from wherever you are. Here's one chorus of that.

A short video of me playing through Friedman's Dampening Etude #3
He said play an Ab dominant bebop scale over a Cmin7b5. It's interesting because a C-7b5 looks like a rootless Ab9 chord.
So I thought I'd pass it along here. I'm sure he has covered it in lessons, but I thought I would mention it.

Quarter notes are great for practicing improv, because you have to play each beat but you also have a lot of time to think.
Can you put chords in? Do you have the chords memorized?
