Hi Allyman, I do not have a connection to the site that hosts the Rough Draft album. Someone posted most of the tracks from our only recording, which is, indeed, an impressive collection of 70s-80s fusion. I hadn't listened to the recordings for decades until someone reached out for more info on the band. It was an amazing era and my heavy fusion background influences my own music: the "Cubist" projects (3 CDs), and my latest CD "Crafty Hands." I classify my music as "world-rock-fusion" which seems to cover all the bases. Thanks for digging deeper!
I'm embarrassed that I haven't been exposed to some of your stuff before. I'm going to blame it on turning my career attention in a completely different direction.
I'm going to CD Baby right now to start to listen in more, and to say I appreciate you being in this space is an understatement.
I hope to see Dean soon also - he'll give me more of the lowdown I'm sure. :)
Thank you again for your contributions to the world of percussion AND this space!
Al, I'm having a blast with the site and all the cool ideas we share with each other. I've been recording more balafon lessons and will soon have a collection of 20 for Tony to post on the site as times goes on. All the best and thanks for digging into my CDs. I'll be including downloads of my music that correlate with the video lessons. Cheers!!
... early 80s.
My fusion background is pretty extensive, even though my true love is jazz vibes.
Percussion is one big happy family, and so are we all!
what's really cool to me is that on drums is Eliot Zigmund who not only played with Bill Evans and Michelle Petruciannia but also played with Vince Guaraldi back in the day. So that's a little extra special!

... here's an 80s version of Chucky B. from my fusion band "Apprentice" back in the day:

That's cool! How come I haven't heard this before?

Going here (http://prognotfrog.blogspot.com/2011/03/apprentice-rough-draft-1982.html) and reading the words "experienced (albeit unknown) team..." explains it I guess! :)
That sounded great, Jerry. I'll fully admit I'd heard of only a couple of people in that group. Everyone sounds fantastic! 80s fusion! :)
This might be a stupid question, but do you have anything to do with that site?
Thanks for sharing!
Apprentice

one of those compositions where you were testing the leather wrapped mallets? What an interesting and very cool sound you achieved on that tune...
I'm really enjoying listening to all of your CDs. Immersing myself in them...
Fantastic. Thank you!
