My favorite lick I think. Bird With Strings. Bird plays on the intro right before the head. I've always loved this line. I think I've mentioned it recently but here's the actual lick.
That album is really great.
Hey Tony,
I think this version is a litte better with keeping the time. I'll check my schedule and get back to you with a few nights this week. Let me know what you think! Thanks for the help!
Hey Tony,
This is my posting of the second version of the Stella Duet. I have a bunch of different recordings of both of them and think this is the best of the 2nd one. I tried to keep everything in the solo simple like we were talking about. I'll pick my favorite version of the first version and post that either tonight or tomorrow.
This in an ebay listing for a 1920s Deagan Vibra-Harp. It was designed to be attached to an organ and is very different than today's instruments. The listing contains a lot of interesting information and many photos. It's worth a look.
Here are some ideas for using voicings made from 5ths and 6ths. There is a pdf file that goes along with this that gives most possible interval combinations. Some of the last few on the pdf are very dissonant but might have their use. If you come up with some more ideas for chord/voicing relationships, please "pass them on in".
Hello everyone,
I wanted to let you know that I just uploaded some new videos to YouTube. The videos are from my May 7th clinic and concert with Philippe Mace at the conservatory in Paris. Here's the link to my YouTube page which lists the videos: http://www.youtube.com/edsaindon
Here’s a list of what was just uploaded:
Clinic: Solo Vibraphone Playing, The Fulcrum Grip, Sticking Concepts for the Vibraphone, Dampening Techiques on the Vibraphone
Concert: My Funny Valentine (solo vibraphone), Invitation, Hope and The Days of Wine and Roses (Philippe on marimba and me on vibes)
Hello everyone.
This is so swinging. I decided to transcribe it tonight and put it through the routine.
Sonny Stitt is a monster. He swings so hard. This one chorus, just kills me!
I quickly put it down in finale. it might not be perfect. Usually I just play along and learn it and never write it down, but I wanted to post it.
If you dig it like I do, you'd do yourself a real service if you figured it out yourself without the music. But whatever. In case you just want to have a look, it's here.
