Borrowing or Renting Vibraphone in NY

Hey guys,

The Ralph Peterson Sextet/Fo'tet is playing the CD Release for "The Duality Perspective", at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, in NY this Monday at 7:30pm and I am in need of a vibraphone. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to lend me a vibraphone for this gig. I can arrange for pick up and drop off of the instrument, comp tickets, and possible compensation.

Also if anyone could email or post where you can rent vibraphones from in NY. I heard there are a couple of places but I forget the name.

Like a loaded Gun - Impressions from my Afghasitan Tour - no Vibes just Rock´n Roll

ok
marie and tony encouraged me to post something from my trip through afghanistan although i played drums and no vibes. the band is called johnny & the hotrods and we cover some rockabilly, johnny cash, elvis etc.

this song is called "like a loaded gun" and is one of a very few original songs composed by our singer.

Naima (practice tape) by Marie

This practice tape has a nice little story: I was listening to Joe Locke's version of this tune from his latest album, when I popped him up on Face Book. When he realised I didn't know the original (believe it or not I didn't!), he of course encouraged me to do so... And so did I...

For me so far, Coltrane was just an unreachable genius who had created incredible tunes not made for me... Of course I was wrong as I discovered I could make an even simpler version... with all its lacks and singularities, but a version "made for me". Sorry John... Thank you Joe! ;-)

The Happy Farmer (Schumann) by Stefan Vdb

Hello,

So after a zillion of takes I finally got one I dare to share. :-) You see I get nervous if I know people can hear me. especially playing sheetmusic, not so much when I improvise.

I started using the metronome with this one, because I was really lazy regarding speed. It was really confronting. Not only was I waaaaaay to slow, but I had no steady rhytm. the parts I knew I played too quick, the one I had problems with, too slow. and when done I just said : "there, I can play it".
I definetly need to continue on using it.

Over The Rainbow by David Friedman

Just finished recording the new Duo CD, "The music of Harold Arlen", with Peter Weniger. In case some of you vibers don't know his music, he wrote songs in 30's 40's and 50's, such as, "Come rain or come shine", "Blues in the night", "Sleepin' Bee", just to name a few. This is an unmixed arrangement I did of "Somewhere over the rainbow", with some reharmonizations and a classic "Tony Micelli" stick drop at the end. This, as well as my final comment, will not be on the CD

Hello,

I just spend some time listening on the internet to make up my mind what to order. :-)

The decision was for :

together with Chick corea :
Hot house (CD)
Live in Munich (DVD)

and also : Libertango, the music of Astor Piazzolla.
I saw on youtube some videofragments when performing these songs. Does anyone know if you can still find this video somewhere ?(it was filmed in Buenos aires 2009)

thanks.
